Realisation of the competence approach in training in methods of teaching geography students of the pedagogical universities

Abstract: 

This study aimed to show theoretical aspects of forming the methodology and projective methodics for the methodical competence in Geography of stu-dents of pedagogical university. The theoretical peculiarities of competence ap-proach in educational training of the teacher of Geography are revealed: a defini-tion of “methodical competence”, stages and specifics of forming the methodical competence of students in Geography in BA and MA educational systems.
The author’s materials which show the projective methodics for the compe-tence-based educational program of the course “Technology of development of the critical thinking” for students in Geography and theoretical recommendation on assessment of competencies at State Final Certification are presented.
The author studies a positive experience of study academic discipline “Me-thodics of training and bringing-up” in Geography which is based on the compe-tence approach in BA and MA. This approach can be useful for university teach-ers during the process of improvement of educational program according to re-quirements of the Federal Educational Standards.
