Abstract:

Introduction. The problems of consolidation of the modern society and overcoming the crisis of public consciousness can be solved through enhancing the role of spiritual and moral values and harmonization of social and natural existence.
Materials and Methods. The methodology and the main research method is socio-philosophical analysis of the topical problems of modern public consciousness, the consolidation of society and sustainability of socio-natural life.
Results. The concept and attributes of the spiritual and moral values which provide the model of the optimal interconnection of components of public consciousness and stability of the socio-natural system are disclosed. The authors present the following attributes of modern social consciousness: new meanings, changed forms of its existence and mechanisms of movement in society; the aggravation of the contradictions between cosmopolitanism and religiosity, progressive liberalism and moral crisis, desire for success and desperate humility, search for innovations and regress in all spheres of life, freedom and hopelessness, declaration of de-ideologization and desire for consumer ideology, and virtualization of objective reality and public consciousness itself. The attention is focused on exacerbating existing contradictions of rationality and morality, virtuality and reality, transnational globalism and national cultures, leading to conflicts and crises which lead to global consequences. A model of public consciousness as an open system is presented. The authors substantiate the necessity of formation of positive feedbacks, which are aimed at consolidating the society and ensuring harmonious interaction of society and nature within the framework of the developed model.
Conclusions. Solving the problems of consolidation of modern society, overcoming the current crisis of social consciousness and sustainability in socio-natural systems is possible through recognition and implementation of the leading role of spiritual and moral values and harmonization of social and natural existence.
