Features of personal potential of students of high school in a megacity and the regional center

Abstract: 

Abstract. The article is devoted to study the personal potential of University students in a megacity and the regional center. A study of the personal characteristics of the 1-st year mail students, 18-20-years old, enrolled in the natural sciences and the humanities fields at Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University in Novosibirsk (25 persons) and a branch of the University in Kuibyshev (24 people) has been performed.
The study was carried out by Bogomaz’ SA et al. personal characteristics tests that have developed with the help of a computer program "Evaluation of social and psychological adjustment and personal potential of students". The results were analized by methods of variation statistics using a nonparametric Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test for independent parameters.
At an estimation of personal potential of surveyed young men it is established, that there are both similarities in the characteristic of personal potential, and the differences related to living conditions. Among students in Novosibirsk there is more pronounced level of reflection, vitality, life satisfaction, self-organization, whereas the students in Kuibyshev have higher level of commitment, orientation on career and professional development.
The results can be the basis for the organization of educational process taking into account the personal characteristics of identified students.
